Morocco with young kids

We're looking to take our two kids (1 & 3) to Morrocco for a couple of weeks over Easter. Has anyone been there with kids that young? How did you get on? Most of the family friendly places to stay in Marrakech seem to be soulless hotels on the outskirts as opposed to Riads in the Medina. We would also be looking to avoid renting a car and traveling on buses/trains/taxis. Would be very interested in anyone's experience of this.

Or if you've been to Morocco without kids could you see yourself going back with smallies?

I went with my now husband in 2015 we went to Agadir. We found it pretty boring bar one day that we went off on a great tour to some red city. No great restaurants, no night life which wouldn't be a concern for you!

The beach was amazing but I remember feeling very uncomfortable, it was a few weeks after the attack in Tunisia and the beach was lined with armed soldiers, but that was a few years ago could have all changed. So I might have an unfairly tinted view of the place.

Thanks. My wife has actually been to Agadir but wasn't impressed so we probably wont be heading back that way. Rough plan would be few days in Marrakech, a Bedouin camp for a couple of nights, Atlas mountains for a few days and then the coast to round it off.

I believe security in the cities is still high but not sure about the beaches.

I'd be interested in what you find out!

Would you mind updating how you got on when you return?

Took two children (then 7 and 9) to Marrackech for a few days about 3 years ago. Stayed in a hotel on the outskirts - taxi in was reasonable value. Kids absolutely loved it, was a great experience. Personal opinion is that 1 and 3 is a bit young and you're going to find it a lot of work getting around - I'd be inclined to wait a few years and stick to southern Europe in the meantime.

That has been the nagging doubt in the back of my head. Thanks for the feedback.

Took the Ferry from Tarifa to Tangier and drove around, our kids are a little bit older and need more stimulation, specifically other kids, a pool etc… so we only stayed a few days. They were fascinated with the culture shift and liked the food.

A few years previously, flew to Agidir and drove to Essaouire to stay in a Riad. This was stunning. Only one three year old.. so happy to hang around with us and play with buckets and spades on the beach.

I can’t see myself going back until the kids are older, but at your kids age it’ll be grand.
