Had manual fty in my old parlour (cashmans and I put 1 line of tape on a cows tail for each extra pull of nuts), I suppose it worked well back then with some HOs giving 9k per lactation , however just pig feeders in the current parlour, and a smaller lower yielding but much higher %solids cow, with the aim to feed under 600kg in a usual year (don't ask about 2018 lol), working very well so far with profitable well up despite the lower delivered litres per cow. A fully automatic fty is something that I have given thought to, however there is always some spend that will give me a much better return in investment, like on grassland, better Laneways, or just more cows ha, and I think moving forward it will be the same.

How much extra are they over those other individual type ones.

We just put in a new parlor with the feed to yield but it the system inst working yet. Some claim that it drives the cows mad say one cow get 2 kgs and the second gets four. We have steel troughs and feed is drip feed. know another fellow and it works well he just puts a capping on the max that any cow can get as he felt the really good cow still wasn't cleaning out the trough

Keenly looking at same system here.
    1. I believe only suitable for High yield herd.
    2. Returns too low otherwise.
    3.ROI quick.
    4.Growing popurality .
    5. PROPERLY feeding each cow based on her production
