while checking my documents, I realized I did not receive any p60 for the year 2017

During that year I worked for Company XYZ until 1 Dec 2017, and they issued me a p45 pretty soon.

I then started working for Company ABC from 4 Dec 2017 until Aug 18.
My first payslip from Company ABC was generated in January 2018, so basically on 31st Dec 2017 I was working for them but I did not have receive any payment from them yet. I was in their employment on 31 December 2017,though.

Should company ABC provide me a P60 for the year 2017 ?
They said no, but frankly they are not the most organized/reliable I met

It's the payment date that counts, not when you earned it. They would not issue p60 as they haven't paid you any money that year.

Your p45 from previous job will have all of your totals for the year (providing that they added all previous jobs if any for that year).
