Ip address on mobile phone while roaming

I've noticed that while roaming abroad my phone still shows an Irish ip address.

Did this mean that, for example, an employer whose network I am logged into would see me as being in Ireland? Or would they have done other means of detecting that?

Check this Why my IP address goes back to the country where the SIM card is issued when I use the cellular data roaming abroad

Because the cellular data traffic goes over the local cellular network, to the SIM issuer’s network, who then makes the request on your behalf to the Internet at large. This allows the SIM issuer to apply any constraints to what you can access, meter your usage and so on. Since the actual traffic to the Internet comes from your SIM issuer’s network, you get an IP address owned by that SIM issuer, which is almost certainly one from that country.

Unless you work for ISP, how your employer would know your IP at any given time, locally or abroad? And why would they need this?

If the OP connects to a company VPN using their employee credentials then the OP's IP would become very obvious.

But I wasn't aware we still use our own carrier IP when roaming, good to know. Cheers

Eh, some how managed to ignore VPN.
However, must be some "unhealthy" work environment if employer tracking employees to that extent.

"I'm working from home" when you're actually 'working' from an extended day or two of your holiday could be an issue.

    As long work gets done.......
And once IP reads as you are "home" then its even better "camouflage".
