Buying 2nd hand Leaf 2016 home charger queries

Hi all, I am in the process of buying a 2nd hand Leaf 2016 July.
I paid a deposit to dealer already and I am applying for HP through dealer tomorrow.
My query is getting the home charger installed.
I got approval for the €600 grant.
I have read a bit on here already regarding chargers etc. and am interested in getting the zappi as hoping to do PVC in home in future.
I was in electric Ireland website earlier today and see an introduction offer to install charger for €149?. Do I buy the charger or do they provide it?
Also, I see ESB website has a list of registered electricticans? Would I be better to call one of these? The Nissan dealer said he has a name of a guy who fits charger and charges about €1100?
    That seems high??
Ok thanks for your help and I am sure I will have more queries in future.

1100 is a complete piss take.

ESB supply and fit everything for €749.
You then get the €600 grant and the nett cost is €149 to you.

Hi thanks for that. Ok I will call ESB to see what type of charger they supply etc. Do a lot of people use them as it seems more affordable than the €1100 the local electrician is charging.
Also, we will need a dedicated fuse board beside the outside meter box. Charger will be here also at cable of house.
I am just wondering if anybody has done this and is it much extra work, money.
    Thanks.

Best price my local electrician could buy a charge unit for was 700 euro. So I purchased a Rolec online delivered for 350 euro.
The electrician fitted a dedicated fuse board beside the outside meter box and installed the charger on the corner of the wall where I usually park, about 4 feet from the new fuse board. He charged 300 euro for the board and install, so the job cost me 50 euro after receiving the grant. Also discovered I had an 80amp main fuse, so I can run the charger (32amp) and the shower at the same time, no priority switch required. :)

Which on the face of it seems a reasonable price for an install by a big trusted company. The ABL is also an excellent and very reliable charger. Made in Germany.

That said, they only install the 3.6kW version of the charger, which isn't really adequate for a lot of people as all current new EVs can charge at twice that rate. The good thing is that the charger can be software upgraded to 7.2kW, but if the ESB fit a 16A RCBO and just 4mm2 cabling, then you will have to upgrade those first. Basically you would need a complete re-install

Now, if you could convince the ESB to install a 40A RCBO and use 6mm2 cable (or 10mm2 cable if you have a long run) for the same price, then this is a pretty good deal

Beware of this though, anyone going for this offer...

It's an excellent ABL charge point. But see my points above.

Think I did mine almost 2 years ago, so have forgotten pretty much how to do it. Used an old laptop that I no longer have. I left the USB to serial connector in the charger and was looking for my keys the other day and couldn't find them. I'll have another look in the next few days and if I find them, I'll give yours ago, we had a thread about it here with detailed instructions, can you dig it up?

I will phone ESB and ask them about the installing the 40A RCBO and 6mm2 cable??

I will do price check for zappi also but that is more expensive and then pay electrician.
That is good to know that they can fit a dedicated fuse box board beside metre box outside.

When do I need to register for the public charging? Is it after I have purchased car?? I should have it in the next week??

    Thanks.

No I'm pretty sure there's another thread. I posted in it as I had a difficulty with the terminal software. I was given good advice (from yourself even, was it?) and then I got it working and charging at 32A

Edit - in here somewhere I think?

Lot of posts in that thread so it's hard to tell. Someone should just post up a quick guide and then sticky it along with links to the software.
    I'm too lazy haha
If I get around to it I could add a guide on making the ABL tethered. I did mine but it's not as straight forward as other units.
What's the legal standing if someone reads a guide here and manages to set their house on fire or manages to electrocute themselves?
