have you looked at the odbeleven dongle/app?
Its really good if you know what you are looking at (i dont).
Got one recently to reset an airbag error and was well impressed.

May be you can use any obd2 scanner first? It shows all basic stuff for you. Only remember, all that data is processed and even the dealer level scanner does not get the pure raw data. Only oscilloscope shows what one or other electrical part really does. Ok it goes now way too complicate. The point are, start from regular scanner and then move to dealer level scanner. Sometimes you do not need the any sort of scanner, just describe so detailed as possible the problem. If somebody had a similar problem, they may can share the valuable information.

You have a generic obd II id say, an obd eleven is a different beat but easily confused! What engine is in your car?

Probably a vacuum leak from some of the pipes under the inlet manifold.
A smoke test would be a good idea.

If you think the obseleven is different than obd2, then why it use the same port? Obdeleven is just bit fancier than any 2eur OBD2 dongle. Any pro level OBD2 scanner shows the taillights for that toy. The dealer level scanner does everything but cost a car price too, the brand new one (not the cheapest one).

It's the software you're paying for.

So it is actually OBD2 scanner not eleven. Just the brand/product name.

Throttle idle sensor maybe- hope that's technically the proper terminology

Know this sounds simple but worth a lash- of it was me and I'd tried all and no joy- I'd disconnect battery properly- leave for 20 m or so , connect and see what resetted etc

Just buy the one that pops up in blanchardstown for 40 quid on adverts when you search vcds. I had an older one of those and it was great.

    Thats not true at all!
You can change long codes with odbeleven and do airrbag stuff.
You cant do that with odb2

An obd11 scanner can usually only access, emmision related faults. It's the engine module. Vcds is just as good as a vag dealer system it let's you access every module and make all the same changes etc. The genuine vcds costs about 400 euro and it gets free updates for life. It's a worthwhile purchase if you have a vag brand car. The resale is very good on them if you change brand of can in the future.

Obd II is what you are talking about, obd eleven is a different product that is a vcds equivalent, although it's a poor choice of name they chose for it

Its definitely not an equivalent of VCDS it is a low cost option for someone who doesn't want to buy VCDS and to carry out a few bits of coding on a car.

I have both and there is not one thing vcds can do that obd eleven can't, it actually has a few features vcds is missing. The .lbl files for coding helpers are not as complete as vcds though

How much is obd eleven? I never heard of it. I've a newish car these days so stopped playing with these things a few years ago. I was looking as fitting a cruise control stalk to my caddy but need vcds vcds. I also wanted to change the intererior light sequence.

Obdeleven are bidirectional or not? May be not because OBD2 bidirectional scanners cost over 700eur, the good ones thousands of euros.

Fully bidirectional including coding I, coding II, security access all adaptations and basic settings etc

I use it because it's handier than vcds with laptop, it's way faster to do steering angle basic setting etc after a job, it's about 50 for dongle

Yep paid 50 for mine recently.
The app is free but it's 25e for the "pro" version.

I find the more information http://forum.obdeleven.com/thread/3262/control-unit-setup

Yes it is impressive what the small unit can to do, but stand alone bidirectional obd2 scan tool beat it hard by any angle and not limited by 1 brand

I have some of the best bi directional scantools and to be honest it's beats them all because it's bag specific, no good for other marques clearly. It it really is very good but you need to be good with it to get the best from it, it has many subtle features that are really handy
