Amalgamation of Staff Officer and EO in Civil Service.

    Anyone here on boards benefit from this and what was the reasoning behind the amalgamation? Why hasn't this extended to the wider public sector?

    The main reason was too many grades in the CS.

    I’m surprised they haven’t done something at higher levels though.

    And I'm surprised this hasn't extended to the wider public sector, I understood the reason being, work of both grades was similar and it was won on these grounds, approx. 1200 staff officers benefited.

    But I'm not in the Civil Service. There are similar numbers of different grades across the public sector i.e. LAs and Health, now that the unions have joined forces, this should be brought in across the board.
