Julianna Margulies leading an all star cast with Noah Emmerich, Tophar Grace, Liam Cunningham, Robert Wisdom, Robert Sean Leonard & James D'Arcy.

The Hot Zone examines "the terrifying true story of the origins of the Ebola virus, a highly infectious deadly virus from the central African rain forest, and its first arrival on U.S. soil. In 1989, when this killer suddenly appeared in chimpanzees in a scientific lab in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., there was no known cure. A heroic U.S. Army veterinarian working with a secret military SWAT team put herself in mortal peril when she tried to head off the outbreak before it spread to the human population.

Remains to be seen whether I'll buy Margulies in a military uniform, but she'll have good command of the medical lingo and being in charge, etc. Good old biology based disaster scenario, I'm down for that and of course Emmerich too. Trailer threw in a decent bit of action towards the end and nice closing scene as well.

It's fine from what I've seen in the first episode. A bit corny in places but gets the message across well enough.

Finished this last night. A bit melodramatic in places but overall, a good watch. Ebola is both fascinating and terrifying.

the book this based on is quite scary despite it having moments of exaggeration about what ebola does to the human body. im looking forward to watching this now

It's a decent quality TV movie. Some very obvious scenes in it. Suspense and sense of paranoia in is great.

    Second season ordered

‘The Hot Zone: Anthrax’: Harry Hamlin To Play Tom Brokaw, Dylan Baker Also Cast In Nat Geo Series
Harry Hamlin (Mad Men, Shameless) and Dylan Baker (The Good Wife, Hunters) have joined the cast of The Hot Zone: Anthrax, the second installment of National Geographic’s scripted anthology series.

The Hot Zone: Anthrax takes place in 2001, just weeks after 9/11, where another deadly act of terrorism rocked the United States. Letters containing anthrax were sent to unsuspecting victims in Florida, Washington, D.C. and New York. The anonymous assault claimed five lives and caused panic throughout the country. Despite interagency turf wars and many false leads, an unlikely team of scientists, FBI agents and government departments slowly closed in on a shocking prime suspect.

Hamlin will portray Tom Brokaw, the respected journalist and anchor for NBC News. On camera, Brokaw is the steady voice of reason for a post-9/11 nation. Off camera, he is a protective father figure to those who work for him. Brokaw himself became a part of the anthrax story when a letter addressed to him contained a lethal amount of anthrax, sickening two of his assistants.

The Hot Zone: Anthrax, starring Daniel Dae Kim and Tony Goldwyn, is set after 9/11. With the world still reeling after the attacks, America faces a second wave—the anthrax letters. Targeting journalists and politicians, mail with anthrax powder kills five people and causes panic across the United States. The Hot Zone: Anthrax follows FBI Special Agent Matthew Ryker (Kim) as he tracks down the killer, finding himself ensnared in an unstable web of psychological warfare. Bruce Ivins (Goldwyn) is the brilliant microbiologist who becomes embroiled in the hunt.

Reviews seem less than positive - "formulaic", etc. However, I liked the first series and this is only 6 episodes.

    From Dan Fienberg

Instead, what was one of the more complicated multi-year investigations in the history of the FBI has been boiled down to a little detective work from a few heroic FBI agents whose names could be “Man Composite Agent,” “Woman Composite Agent” and “Young Composite Agent People Can Explain Things To.”

    Ouch.
