Form 12/P21 question

Hi there, this question may well be asked elsewhere but I couldn't see it.

I submitted Form 12 on 31st January and received an acknowledgement email but I've heard nothing since. I'm just wondering if I need to wait to receive something from revenue or can I just go ahead and submit the request for the P21?

Form 12 was simply adding medical expenses from last year so nothing major.

I'm in Tipperary if that matters.

Thanks a million for any responses, hopefully I've made sense.

The form 12 generates a p21 balancing statement as it's outcome when it's processed. Normally if all's in order then it issues within 24 to 48 hours. If it hasn't issued yet it probably means that tge return has been pulled for some sort of verification check.

Thanks a million for taking the time to respond.
How common would it be to have a claim pulled for verification? Do you have any idea how long the process can take if that happens?

A random percentage is always checked along with some specific ones. In normal times it might be a week or two. However this is traditionally one of the busiest periods for PAYE areas and with PAYE Modernisation kicking in on 01/01/19 that has made it even busier. It could be 4 to 6 weeks.
