Dissolution of a Civil Partnership

I am posting on behalf of a friend, a non-EU national married to an EU national in Ireland.

They are bother engaged in a civil partnership (registered in Ireland before same sex marriage was legalised) and they now wish for an uncontested divorce.

Is the same process followed for a civil partnership dissolution as for a divorce.

If it is uncontested with no children or assets (house/car/pension) could a DIY divorce be pursued?

Obviously I know these are highly specialised questions, I am just wondering if anyone with a similar experience is around.
