The Bad Boys's spin off will debut on Spectrum’s On Demand platform on Monday, May 13th
“L.A.’s Finest” sees Union reprising her role as Syd Burnett from 2003’s “Bad Boys II.” Now an LAPD detective, Syd is paired with a new partner, Nancy McKenna (Alba), a working mom with an equally complex past. Taking on the most dangerous criminals in Los Angeles while skirting the rules, and speed limits, Syd and Nancy become a force to be reckoned with – on the streets, and in each other’s lives.

    Damm this is very sad.

‘L.A.’s Finest’ Co-Showrunner Has Leg Partially Amputated As Questions Mount About Horrific On-Set Accident
Brandon Sonnier’s life was forever changed last Thursday when the L.A.’s Finest executive producer/co-showrunner, along with fellow EP/co-showrunner Brandon Margolis, were injured on the set of the upcoming Spectrum/Sony Pictures TV series. Both were rushed to the hospital, but while Margolis was quickly released, Sonnier’s injury was so severe he had to have one of his legs amputated just below the knee, I have learned. He remains hospitalized, surrounded by family.

According to sources, Sonnier, Margolis and other producers were in the video village area on the San Pedro set, where they were watching a car stunt scene on monitors. A stunt car reportedly crashed into a cargo crate, with the container and/or the car smashing into the video village, which had been set up behind the crate. There was immediate fear for Sonnier’s leg as sources on the set indicated it may have been pinned.

As doctors were fighting to save Sonnier’s leg, questions began to mount about the accident. The biggest is why the video village was set up in such close proximity to the stunt scene, which was filmed on location near Warehouse One at the Port of Los Angeles. Cal/OSHA was notified and immediately opened an investigation into the incident; its findings will likely provide insight into what went wrong.

It may have been a freak accident, but if additional safeguards need to be placed on film and TV sets so it never happens again, that should be done. No writer, cast, or crew member should be going to work fearing for their safety.

L.A.’s Finest, an offshoot from the Bad Boys movies and starring Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba, marked Sonnier’s big TV break. It is his and Margolis’ first series as creators after the two worked as writer-producers on NBC’s The Blacklist. They are also under an overall deal at Sony TV, which produces both L.A.’s Finest and The Blacklist.

"L.A.'s Finest" first 3 episodes aired last night on 'Spectrum' paid TV service, behind a paywall so no torrents for the show yet! Might have to wait until other Networks pick up the show.

@CastorTroy pm me please if you have a source?

Edit: - Found a source for them!

    [variety] TV Review: ‘L.A.’s Finest’
    ...

But this particular show seems ill-suited to its format: Meant to live on an on-demand platform, this drama seems oddly unlikely to have been specifically demanded by anyone at all. A tonally disastrous half-comedy, half-melodrama about policing that draws in cartel politics and family angst, “L.A.’s Finest” seems designed to be vaguely, generically acceptable to have on in the background — which makes it a strange choice as the launching point for a set of programs that would seem to require viewers affirmatively choosing to tune in.

    ...

“L.A.’s Finest” seems to want to exist outside the way people watch TV now. Which makes it a poor on-demand show, but perhaps the only sort of show a cable provider, nostalgic for an era rapidly passing from view, could create.

The last spin off Union starred in was never picked up.

I watched the first 3 episodes.

The pilot episode tries too hard with the Bad Boys references and banter however by the end of it it starts to be itself.

Episode two starts to give the backstory to the two leads and the season arc to come.

Episode three and it's starting to find its feet without the need to be Bad Boys.

    Alba is like fine wine.

John Salley reprises his role from the Bad Boys films.

    Captain Awesome is Awesome.

Barry Sloane is great as always.

Went in with low expectations....I wasn’t disappointed.

If this was a prime time show during the year it wouldn’t make it past season 1!!

Up to episode 5 now and again they try a little too hard with the humour.

It is a typical slick Jerry Bruckheimer production and like all Bruckhemer productions be it big screen or small screen in the last 23 years since Don Simpsons death it misses Simpsons coked up frenetic enegry.

I am really enjoying it for what it is a Bruckheimer production I wasn't expecting The Wire or The Sopranos I was expecting slick blow some sh1t up and shoot people and that's what you get with a decent back story of the main leads and and an ongoing season arc.

Sounds like an OK replacement for Lethal Weapon?

It’s not as good as lethal weapon for me.

It does run along the same lines as it so an OK replacement is probably a good way of putting it.

It has a few moments. When it goes all Wayans Brothers it's very, very irritating! Just got through 3 episodes.

I'm up to date as far as episode 9 now and I am really enjoying it for what it is the back stories for both characters help the story along nicely with a strong supporting cast.

It's not Bad Boys and it's not The Wire it's just fun.

Good close to season with the final 2 episodes.

A nice butt nod to Bad Boys in the season finale.

I can safely say that Bad Girls is and will be better than Bad Boys 3.

Looking forward to the second season now next year.

That was a great second season and better than the first for me.

It should easily get a 3rd season and with that ending it better.

Watched both seasons over the last week or two. Really enjoyed it - glad I got into it.

Hope there is a season 3.
