I was looking to do an ICT Security course like
    1. Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
    2. Diploma in Cyber and Digital Security - https://www.ibat.ie/courses/cyber-security-cybercrime-diploma-course.html
    3. etc

But was told by someone in the industry to learn networking inside out before doing the security course. What he suggested was to one of the following
    1. CompTIA Network+
    2. CCNA

Can any one advice on this please? Is very good networking skills mandatory before any ICT Security training?

2 maybe 3 of those modules are networking related. Proper cyber security has really gone from that guy that does the firewalls to that a job that that encompasses so much more.

If you wanted to get a jump on the course, doing a Network+ or CCNA would probably help you with understanding IP networks and protocols but its not going to help with 90% of the course.

All you really need is a good understanding of routing and (maybe) subnetting.
To be honest if you're in IT you really should understand subnetting anyway. Its scary how many dont though.

There is a free course on eventbrite taking place this Saturday called "Introduction to Networking"

This might give you an idea if you want to get into networking.
