    Hi,

We have a 2007 2litre diesel titanium smax. (200Kms)We want to upgrade this (our family car) and need a "run around" as my husband has got a new job and will need it for a short commute. We were thinking of buying an SUV (kids now teenagers so not going for another 7 seater) in the UK and a "run around" car here . We are torn what to do with the SMax - keep it until it dies or trade it in to buy a smaller newer car. One ford dealer said he would only give us a couple of hundred euros for it the other said he would give us 3-4k. The NCT is up for renewal in April.

    Thanks

    Edzers

Quick look on donedeal shows that an 07 SMax is listed for anywhere between 1.5-3k depending on condition.

You could probably stick it up privately yourself and get around 2k for it maybe. The dealer offering you 3.5-4k for it would be working this into the cost to change for the new car. You'd likely get a better deal if you went in with cash. The other one mostly didn't want to bother with it from the sound of it.

Either way I wouldn't look to trade it in unless you were getting a scrappage deal on a new car.
