Good value decent Tripod?

I think its time I invest in a decent tripod. What i have now is a travel tripod that goes reall small but it's not the most sturdy. I always like the Manfrotto 190 and the 496RC2 head - used them before and seems great so that kind of range. With so many on the market can anyone recommend any good options?

I've been searching around lately for a replacement for mine too. The only factor of import to me is height, I am so tired of squatting to see into the viewfinder. I'm not pushed about minimum folding size or by weight as the majority of carrying will be done by my car and I'll only heft it for the last mile or two.

I have the Benro TAD27A legs and a Benro B2 ballhead in mind for when I accumulate a bit of spare cash - circa €250. The flip locks rather than a twist lock is intentional, I simply prefer flip locks.

I have the Benro IT15, available in alu or carbon. Great yolk, I've got Arca Swiss on everything... Plenty of other options up the price scale with Benro. Flippy clasps, monopod function, Arca Swiss, light, small, upside down mounting if necessary, low position function.

I got a Manfrotto 190Go carbon a few weeks ago for about a 50% discount on Uttings in the UK. I've only used it once but I love it so far. A little on the heavy side (2.2Kg with a 3 way pan head) but it is absolutely rock solid and a great height.


I had a 50 euro Amazon tripod and also a Vangaurd Alta Pro 2 that fell apart after a few outings so I said I'd invest in something really good this time around. I believe the aluminium 190Go tripods are very good also.
