I have an out farm that I'm considering renting. However I'm keen to retain subsidies. Anyone know how it works. I was told that I should not rent it until June 1st as In order to claim sfp it must be in my name on June 1st.

After June 1st is it in order to rent out and is it ok if a farmer puts cattle on land ie would dept have a problem with it

safest way to protect your payments is contract grazing.take the animals into your herd number in the spring and let them off in the autumn.i have this arrangement a neighbour and it works grand but it s renting by the back door

What happens if your neighbours herd gets locked up with TB?

Sorry lads renting land without maps last few years for silage, anyway he wants to draw up a lease and return the entitlement money's. What happens in general when the new system comes in (btw he wants half the value when the new system comes in)

the only animals there are ours but if the herd gets locked up you can bring them.home but you are locked up until clear test in your herd

Yes but if you get locked up with TB does that mean that your neighbour is locked up too

Do it as short term grazing let. Will work to retain all payments if ypu have a stocking rate high enough to cover all of your land including the rented out farm.

If it's done as short term grazing let do you need to transfer the cattle from one herd to the other herd - I'm interested in what the department will allow
