    Hi there,

I have plan to visit Amsterdam for two days with one friend during middle of February.

Could you please share your experience and suggest what can be seen in or around Amsterdam in two full days?

Would Public Transport (Train/Tram) be handy and cheaper to buy 1 or 2 days pass/ticket to go around in Amsterdam or should buy Hop or Hope off be cheaper to see the most?

Please suggest any places like Parks or other amusements with free entry or possibly cheaper entry tickets?

Are there any other attraction to nearest city than Amsterdam to go for a day and return within a day?

    Thanks in advance.

All depends on what you're into but below are a few tips from my visits there.

Although dependent somewhat on where you are staying most of the city is quite walkable and it can be very pleasant to stroll down some of the lesser canals and explore. Singel Canal, down to Rokin and back up towards RLD/Central Station is a nice walk.

Nieuwendijk is a nice pedestrianised shopping street. Be sure to check out the HEMA store. Dam Square is at one end of Nieuwendijk.

Most of the museums have an admission charge but if you want a free taster head to Kalverstraat where there's a covered walkway leading through to the musem. The walkway houses examples of the artworks from the museum itself. While you're heading up or down Kelverstraat look for Peter & Paul Church as it's well worth the visit.

Begijnhof is nearby and is free to walk around. Just be there as early as possible before the coachloads of tourists arrive.

There are free ferrys from behind Central Station to various parts of Amsterdam Noord, including to the NDSM Wharf area.

Central Library (Openbare Bibliotheek) has a cafe on the 7th floor which has a great view of the city.

I'm going to Amsterdam in March (hope you don't mind me joining in the chat) - looking to find out where is best to buy a public transport (train/tram/bus) rambling ticket so I can make my own way around the city.
Also is there a deal where you can buy tickets or get vouchers to visit most of the tourist attractions, interested in Museums - art, Anne Frank house, Heineken etc and seeing as much of everything in 3 days in Amsterdam. Any good links to where I should start to look for deals on entry prices and bookings please? And hope to do the river tour also.

just got back. Best bet for transport is the Amsterdam travel pass. You can buy for one day or more but it will get you on every tram bus and trains in the region. Schipol has a train station attached so you could get one there. trams run every few minutes...very efficient.
Went to Anne Frank House, very moving but tickets need to be bought in advance. Same for Van Gogh, day i went it was sold out.
If you want to head out of the city Zaans Schan is a small town north of Amsterdam that is famous for its windmills etc. Traditional dutch. Travel pass will get you there too.
Not sure if you have booked accomodation yet but I stayed in Haarlem. Really nice town, cheaper accomodation and still only 15/20 minutes on the train into Amsterdam. Enjoy!
