What's a typical amount to tip in Vietnam. They have notes that are basically worth f all . I had a good 2 days in halong bay and gave the guide 200k dong and the driver 70k. Too much not enough?

Chat with hotel receptionist / concierge / bar staff. See what they are like as a person, especially towards locals. Ask them what's normal.

    Way too much I think.

The average monthly wage in Vietnam is 3 million. So you've tipped well over a whole day's pay.

By way of comparison, the average wage here is 3k/month - so your tips are roughly equivalent to E200 and E70.

Were you part of a group tour? If so, I don't see why you need to tip at all; you're already paying them to show you around. Excessive tipping is just a daft American habit tbh
