Because lane 1 stays as lane 1 all the way to Blanch...(slip road for M50 south is left of lane 1 after the turn for Castleknock)
If you're in lane 1 from after garage/before the turn - the signs the 3rd picture matches up with where you are in the lanes.

It doesn't, at the garage the leftmost lane is a bus lane which then transitions to the lane for M50S, the lane for straight on from when it's signed is never the left most lane, therefore Infofun should never be in the left lane after it transitions if he's going straight.

The lane for straight on is never the left lane from the signs at

    1st Gantry (middle Lane )
2nd Gantry (Castleknock and M50 South left 2 lanes, straight 3rd lane from left)
    3rd Gantry (left M50S, 2nd lane Straight)

Numbering lanes from left to right,

1st Gantry N3 is 2nd Lane, M50S is on the left
2nd Gantry N3 is 3rd lane which was the 2nd lane but M50S is still on the left
3rd Gantry N3 is 2nd lane, M50S is still on the left and M50N is two right hand lanes

It does, I've driven down the road thousands of times!

The truck in lane 1 and has the option to go straight to Blanch or take the left slip road to the M50 notice the arrows in front of the truck.

By OPs reckoning then, drivers for Blanch would need to be in Lane 2 up to the lights, and immediatly move over to the Lane 1.
As they approach the roundabout the lane markings then allow Lane 1 and Lane 2 to be for the N3 again.

The generally accepted use of this junction is Lane 1 for M50S, Lane 1 and 2 for N3, and Lane 3 for M50N.
I'd say the majority of the traffic going through this junction is using the N3.

Well all I can say is that unless the gantry signs or the road lane markings are changed to match each other it's a fvckup waiting to happen.
