My old setup was downloading movies to my NAS, located one room above my projector and using an RF remote to control an Apple TV, linked by a long HDMI to my projector.
With a Network amplifier, Android box, Netflix & Fire Stick available, what is the best device for streaming Video.
Would I be able to control the Fire Stick if it was one room away or could I use Alexa to control it ?
    All suggestions welcome.

    Folks,

Please bear in mind the notice at the top of the forum regarding movies and tv etc - my assumption is that the streaming mentioned in the OPs question is from legitimate sources.

    Thnks,

    Ritz.

The Amazon fire is an ok budget device but the Nvidia Shield TV is hands down the best device available these days and has been for some time. It doesn't look like being knocked off it's perch anytime soon. There's a big thread in the Android forum. It runs Android TV which is not the same as touchscreen Android, it has it's own play store with only Android TV supported apps, but you can sideload lots of apps much like the Fire TV. It's deigned from the ground up for use on a large screen with a D-pad remote.

Also check out the Logitech Harmony remote with a Harmony hub to allow you use Bluetooth controls that modern hardware uses. This allows you to hide away devices or keep them in another room as the remote itself uses wireless to the hub and the hub has Bluetooth, IR and WiFi

Want to confirm that I will be streaming from Amazon Prime or Netflix through the Fire Stick.
I hope to use the Fire Stick as an Input into my amplifier. Don't know how I will be able to control it as haven't tried it yet.
Had a Harmony Remote but had trouble with the RF Extender.

The fire stick doesn't have IR, it has Bluetooth therefore you need a harmony remote with a hub for Bluetooth. You have to pair the hub with the fire stick, it will then show as a Harmony keyboard
