NCT due Aug 2019

    The other thread reminded me...

My NCT is due in mid August 2019.
Car was first registered in Aug 2009.

If I NCT it in August I should get my first 1 year cert.

Am I right in thinking that if I get it tested in May (over 90 days before it's due/10 years old) I would get a 2 year cert from May 2019-May 2021?

It's an NCT 3 months early, but it saves me (or it's next owner) getting an NCT until 2021.

    Anyone ever do that?

Yes once it's over 90 days from due date you will get 2 years from date you do the test. Did it myself in the past.

You are correct, and pretty much everybody does it. I think they even contact you and let you know!

Get yourself extra 2-3 weeks in case of a retest (hopefully not, but better safe than sorry). :)
