    Hello,
I’m just wondering what do other schools do in the event that lots of teachers are out sick in a small school. Sometimes there aren’t enough people on the S&S rota to cover. Do they get teachers like resource to cover the classes as the resource classes might only be a small class or an extra person in the class. Or do they ask guidance teachers as they mightn’t be timetabled for classes but have counselling/career appointments. Are you allowed to cover classes outside of your S&S slots?

joining a couple of classes together or lumping a few into the library/lunch area with just 1 teacher is one I've come across

Teachers just not getting their breaks is what happens too unfortunately!

Many teachers gave up the S & S when they got the opportunity a few years ago .Of course this left a shortage of teachers for s & s on some rotas........but there is money for s & S.....remember every teacher that gave up the Supervision also gave up a few thousand euro (b4 tax) ,this money is made available to schools then to pay someone to do it! Of course sub teachers are few and far between nowadays due to the sh1t conditions they endured for years and many of them have gone to warmer climes to work.

But who pockets the money "given" to the school for supervision?
Another can of worms opens in our corrupt education system!
