Are there any people who identify and live a Straight Edge lifestyle?

Hi, I'm brainstorming an idea I have for an advocacy film on soberity for college. I'm hoping to look into the Straight Edge culture. Which is basically like being a pioneer but living as less of a dry ****e. Anyways, I couln't find anything online in terms of groups of Straight Edge people here in Ireland so was hoping there was some here that might be up for an interview or a questionare for the film.

Some questions I'd have for a possible Skype interview would be along the lines of:

How long have you been Straight Edge for?

What influenced you to lead a Straight Edge lifestyle?

What (if any) other things do you abstain from besides Drink and Drugs based on your Straight Edge lifestyle (meat, sex before marriage etc.)?

How involved have you been in the culture of Straight Edge (Music choices, Concerts, Meet ups etc.)?

Where did you first hear about what it meant to be Straight Edge?

Do you attend many gatherings or concerts catered towards those who identify themselves as Straight Edge?

Do you feel refraining from alcohol and drugs has helped other areas of your life? How so?

Have you ever felt left out for your commitment to your principles?

Do you encourage or introduce others to the benefits of living Straight Edge?

Do you think the Straight Edge lifestyle has the potential to become a more popular trend here in Ireland?

Yep, I wasn't always like this though, you should check out the early 80's Hardcore scene were a lot of them were straight edgers, could usually be spotted at shows with a black "X" marked on the back of their hands, something that clubs used to do to underage kids so they wouldn't be served at the bar but started a trend.

I'd rather stay aware and be rejected"

Was straight edge not a bit of an early 00s thing? Is it still around? I remember a few people in my circle saying that...think it was short lived though lol

Never even heard of it. Sounds like a millennial thing though

It didn't exactly help CM Punk in the looks department. The guy is looking a bit haggard for a 40 year old :(

I'm more curved edge than straight edge these days.
"They ain't love handles if nobody loves ya" is a saying I've often heard.

Thought this was yet another Gender. Slightly surprised to find out it's a real thing!

Hope Collective put on gigs back in the day, including Fugazi. I think some of those involved may have identified as straight edge, not 100% on that. Some great gigs, though!

I knew a few straightedge advocates growing up.
    Very intolerant people.

Everyone that went says that, the thing about hardcore shows is you don't really need to be drunk or high, the energy of high speed distorted music (and often times violence) was a natural buzz in itself.

Gig in McGonagles was something else!

Btw The Messthetics with Brendan Canty (Drums) and Joe Lally (Bass) both ex Fugazi are playing this Sunday in the Grand Social.
