Looking at first car for someone. Budget €5 k. won't do much mileage. 1L or 1.2 Litre petrol.

With insurance for cars over 10 yrs becoming harder, is it best to go with, say, solid Ford Fiesta 2009 or the likes of a Renault Clio 2011.

Will likely hold the cars for a few years.

to boil it down, might the 09 become dearer/harder to insure yr 2 and yr 3 ?

You should be able to pick up a 2010/2011 Renault Clio for 5k these days.

The Clio is a good car, yes it's been around a few years longer than the Fiesta but I wouldn't pay the same to drop back a year for a Fiesta.
