Howdie,

Seriously interested in this telly and hoping to pull the trigger this week. Your 6 year warranty is very appealing.

Saorview, is this fully Saorview Compatible? Correct channel numbers etc.

USB Recording, can it record when on Standby?

Delivery to Galway, usually what sorta timeframe? What courier do ye use? Have ye had issues with damaged in Transit?

Will need a UHD BluRay player for Mrs Keek, what would ye go for, Sony UBPX500 or keep it LG and get the, LG UBK80

Is there any Boardie voucher codes available?

Hi Mr. Keek,

thanks for the mail and apologies for the delay getting back to you.

The LG OLED 55C8 is a stunning TV! I'll give you the negatives first - similar to most TV's it will not record from standby (easily!) but that's the only negative - it is fully Saorview ready - Delivery to Galway is 3-5 days and we use a specialist courier called Aramex for OLED - to date we have sold 1000's on OLED and we literally have had a handful of transit damaged units.

In terms of UHD BR - I would go with the Sony UBPX700 or the Panasonic DPub820 unless you want to spend loopy money and go for the new Pioneers :D.

There is a £100 voucher on the sterling price to take it down to £1599 but you are far better off going for the €1699 euro price which includes shipping and our 6 year warranty - it's cracking value!

Just to piggy back this thread -
I have a PS4 (4k). Will this work ok with this tv and also play 4k blue rays?
I see that the C8PLA has a built in sound bar. I have a Bose surround sound system and a Onkyo receiver. Do I need this model or is there a same TV without the sound bar for cheaper? and will the TV run this sound system?
What is the difference with the 'LG OLED55B8''

Hi Jesper.

I think there might be a little confusion by the built in soundbar.
This is not something that you can see or that is visible. Its the speaker configuration within the TV which give a better sound over the S versions.

The difference between the 55B8S and the 55B8PLA is the upgraded speakers and the PLA has a different stand.
Both the 55B8s and 55B8PLA are the same price at £1194 or 1299 euro. So it work out better to pay for either of these in Euro.

There is only one version of the 55C8 which is the PLA version.

Let me know your thoughts.

Is this offer still available? I see the price on RS website is gone to 2,000.
Did I miss the boat? Don't tell me I have to go with Harvey Norman :(

Hey Jesper.

Prices are now starting to change as the sale finishes unfortunately.

The 55C8PLA is priced at 1699 Euro which is the same as Harvey Norman but we give our 6 year guarantee free of charge where as they charge over 250 Euro for a extra 2 years. Makes us the better deal :)

Hi Oat,

thanks for the mail and apologies for the delay getting back to you.

We are not beating the Costco pricing locally as they don't deliver to the island of Ireland and their warranty also only applies to UK mainland members.

We will however offer the LG OLED 55B8S at £1069 including delivery and our 6 year warranty if you are interested.

Lots available from stock.

Keep us posted if we can assist in any way,

Thanks for the quick reply. I think I'll hold off and see if any deal on the PLA comes up closer to when the 2019 models are launching (March/April I think).

We already have an E7 so not in any rush really. Just hoping to get another for the bedroom so we can move the E7 with the soundbar to the living room as it'll be used more there.

Hi PCDub.

It is only the B8S that costco are offering at that price.

The 55B8PLA is still available at the 1299 Euro that the 55B8S is also priced on our website at.
This works out much cheaper than the current £1199 sterling retail and its not that far off the £1069 quoted on the 55B8S.

Hi John great to hear from you.

The 130stg, hopefully my maths are ok,  refers to the  uplift to the pla @1199stg v 1069stg for the s as quoted above.

Anyway as always still searching for the best av with the best av retailer.

Cheers

• Company Representative Posts: 9,508 ✭✭✭Richersounds.ie: John

Thanks PC - you know us well - flattery will get you everywhere...

We have no real problem offering the PLA at the £1069 price ( including our 6 year) but stock is far tighter on the 'PLA' than the 'S' so we just can't guarantee how long it will last.

We have now put a Boardie Voucher up for the 55B8 which reduces the £ price from £1194 to just £1069 including 6 year and delivery - on this URL:
https://www.richersounds.ie/p-203506-lg-oled55b8-55-inch-oled-4k-ultra-hd-hdr-smart-tv-freeview-play.aspx

If you use the Voucher Code ' GDFLASH132 ' at checkout that will work for the 55B8 ' S' model - if you would like a 'PLA' just pop us an email straight away with your order reference and if there is stock available happily sort you out a 'PLA' - if there is no stock we will contact you prior to charging your card to give you the option to cancel.

We have had quite a few people enquiring about this price match today and some of the Customers have been really aggressive towards our guys regarding this pricebeat - but the basics are that Costco don't deliver to Ireland ROI or NI and they don't offer a warranty in Ireland - we honestly feel that the warranty is critical on a unit like this TV ( Its a fantastic TV) and whilst some Customers say they don't give a 'T&*s' about the warranty - we know that in the event anything went wrong with their TV then they would care very much about the warranty.

Thanks again PC - it's a good point and hopefully gave me an opportunity to explain and of course offer the voucher,

Keep us posted,

ATVB,

Hi PCDub.

I think you may have read my post incorrectly.

The sterling retail was £1199 and the Euro Retail was 1299 euro.

The 1299 Euro makes in cheaper than the listed sterling retail.

1299 Euro at our in-store conversion works out at £1105 sterling which is not far off the £1069 sterling quoted on the 55B8S version.
That's only £36 sterling of a difference and not £130 as thought.

John has agreed in his post to offer at the same price of £1069 if you wish to purchase one.

That's only £36 sterling of a difference and not £130 as thought.

John has agreed in his post to offer at the same price of £1069 if you wish to purchase one.
Yeah Kenny was doing straight comparison on the stg price's, was busy and reading/replying on my phone so didn't quite get the meaning.

Anyway have tried ordering online but locked my account and code expired now so damn work anyway... will keep an eye on the price b8/c8. Cheers
Hey PCDub.

If you are still interested I'll see if I can get anything sorted for you as you are such a good customer ;)
Yeah still interested Kenny, probably need my account unlocked aswell. Cheers

Hi John great to hear from you.

The 130stg, hopefully my maths are ok,  refers to the  uplift to the pla @1199stg v 1069stg for the s as quoted above.

Anyway as always still searching for the best av with the best av retailer.

Cheers
Hi PCDub.

I think you may have read my post incorrectly.

The sterling retail was £1199 and the Euro Retail was 1299 euro.

Morning Kenny,

I've had a think over night and i hate to say it but i think i'm going to pass on the b8 deal, yeah i know im a fool to pass on the deal.  Ive bought 4 TVs in the last year trying to replace my 7 year old 37 philips which was still performing brilliantly.  Having read a few reviews and the fact the sk8500 i got from RS in december is doing a decent job i think i should either look for the C8 with the a9 processor or see what the new 9 series oleds will be like.  Sorry for the run around on this but i will keep an eye on prices for the c8 and should be back soon.

Cheers.

I did donate 1 to a mate but I have the others,  could've bought 2 oleds with the money I spent on them.. classic example of not just biting the bullet and getting the oled first time.  Will be watching the c8 price closely, I will be back.  Cheers.
