Pay when moving in public sector.

Moving from one public service gig to another.
Question, employee is a public servant on probation (job A), and offered role elsewhere at same level elsewhere in public service, but in different organisation etc (job B). If they move from job A to job B, do they go back on 12 month probation or not? Also, what’s the norm pay wise, do they jump one point on the scale immediately, even if they are in job A for less than a year, or retain same pay? Also, is there scope for moving more than one ‘point’?
Any insight or experiences of the above greatly appreciated.

Yes, brand new 12 month probation no matter how long you've been there.
Pay wise, no chance you'll go up even one point if it's on the same level. You may even end up worse off....i.e. if you are in place for 9 months, and only 3 months away from an increment, the clock may be reset as soon as you start the new place and your increment will be 12 months from then.

Depends on the HR in the new place though. Ask them and see what they say.

all things being as you describe id expect your increment date and probation to stay unchanged tbh

Talk to where you are going and your local HR. You should be able to transfer rather than resign. That way you keep your existing service history.

I've done it twice in the last few years
