OK so I'm about to pull the trigger on a dell inspiron 15 7000. Just want to know if there's better out there for E959?

Completely depends what you want it for. If you want a powerful, somewhat sleek laptop for general use or producivity, it's very decent.

If you want it for games, it's fairly poor.

yes - what are your uses/ expectations

1.87kg is not very portable so if you're likely to be moving the laptop around a lot not the best. a lighter laptop of 1.3/1.4 kg is much better if portability is an issue

mx150 can be decent (but only for 720p resolution gaming really) but there are actually 2 versions of the card one of which is underpowered. bizarrely there is no indication usually as to what version is in a laptop without making sure of which one is in the laptop through research and confirming that thermals aren't also throttling its performance
Nvidia has been sneaking in slower GeForce MX150 '1D12' variant onto some Ultrabooks

Thanks for the replies. I think I'm over thinking it.
720p gaming would be grand for throwing on FIFA (even an older version) the odd time and a bit of GTA.
Predominantly I'll be using it for steaming, browsing and the likes so battery life and a nice screen is important.
I really don't like the looks of gaming laptops. Most are very big with crap battery life.
If I start spending more time gaming I reckon a console is the only way.

Main thing I was looking for was to find out if the inspirion 15 7000 was good value and it seems to be.

I would say that you're ok on the mx 150 side not being the sneaky low-power version

this review has the same spec (even tho it's the touch-screen version) and it doesn't mention that (good comprehensive site)

still I would not have high gaming expectations.

720p resolution and even then the most graphically intensive games may not run at that.

2gb of video ram is simply not enough for some 2018/2019 games.

FIFA and GTA V will run fine tho - even at 1080p low (to normal / medium) settings for GTA and 1080p medium (or even high for ~40fps) IFA as it's not a demanding game graphically. Things like shadow of the tomb raider would not be tho.

yes it's decent value for what it is - good cpu and ssd, mx 150, good build quality (metal)
