Car failed nct today on emissions.

    Low idle was fine.

    High Idle

    lambda was 0.93
says not between 0.97 and 1.03 that was a fail

CO was 2.42 not supposed to be above 0.20 fail

    The car is a 2004 Mazda 3 1.4 petrol

I'm worried it's a big fix, I also noticed the oil was low and coolant was fine. sometimes I also feel a slight lag or braking sensation when accelerating in low gears.

Just hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this I know it's hard to know without looking at the car.

    Thanks.

Sounds like you don't plan to fix this yourself? Your car is running very rich at high idle (ratio of fuel to air is out with burnt fuel passing through)

Can be a number of root causes, many simple fixes but need some knowledge to diagnose, running a car too rich for long will kill your catalytic converter, which new is more than your car is worth. You can't ensure the cat is still working until the root issue is fixed.

best take to local shop and get it assessed.
