Personal abuse and remarks on this website

I am new to this website. Although I have been a long term lurker.

There is a thread ongoing about a young child who fell down a well. The thread turned nasty too and vile disgusting remarks were made towards certain posters on the thread. The remarks I am talking about were very hurtful and were directed a lady poster on this website.

I have been reading on these forums over the years and I took the plunge to register recently. Since I was reading number of years ago up to recently, the attitude and style of posting has become very hostile lately.

Especially if you don't fit into a certain clique of people. People are merely offering opinions and thoughts and are being lambasted with abuse.

I've also noticed certain threads which might produce a wonderful debate but the topic is controversial, and God forbid the OP makes a spelling or grammatical error in the OP. Someone who doesn't agree or someone who just wants to abuse them will highlight their spelling error and make fun of them. This happened in my thread on the attempted abortion of the Downs Syndrome boy until I had to amend the OP text.

    Your thoughts?

Calling someone out on obvious falsity and downright incorrect statements is not abuse.

    Cleek is the American spelling.

There is a difference though between saying that a person is in the wrong or not accurate and
a load of posters all jumping in to criticise, ridicule and basically saying the person doesn't exist. I've seen it before with another poster who wrote a lot about their fantastical life. Whether it was actually real or not didn't matter to me, it was the "everyone get him"! mentality that stuck out.

If you think there's any personal abuse then just report it, rather then opening a thread to moan about it.

Everyone shouldn't have any need to placate her nonsense

You don't get to dictate whether or not I can start a thread, thank you very much.

I'd like this to be discussed with maturity on a public platform to see others' opinions on the matter.

Feedback is a private discussion with the website moderators. I would prefer a public discussion. Thanks

Just finished watching The Terror. Saw it recommended on a thread. Thought it was brilliant. Have any of you seen it?

Does it even matter? Sure none of us even know each other. It’s all just words on a page. And if someone is posting constant inconsistencies, lies, abuse, whatever.. then they deserve to be pulled up on that. Calling someone out for being full of shlte isn’t abuse

You'd like a mature discussion so you posted in After Hours?

You'd probably be best posting this in feedback.
Also if you have issue with posts report them and we can see if it's abusive.
Mod's don't read ever comment here unless there attention is brought to them.
