Hi. Not sure if this is the right forum for this type of post.

I have a new Spanish housemate sharing an apartment with me in the Dublin City Centre who is living in Ireland since March last year. Up until now he has been staying in hostels. He is 50 years old. He has over 20 years experience in welding. His level of English is very low. He has never used a computer before but can use an android phone. I have to rely on Google translate to communicate with him. He has enough money to pay rent for the year.

He tried to get a welding job. And it appears he is almost successful. Except that he needs a safe pass. In order to get a safe pass, he has to have a PPS number. If I'm not mistaken, in order to get a PPS number, he has to get a job. He had an idea to get a job as a "dishwasher". I made a CV for him to look for a "dishwasher" job. But to be honest, I don't think the CV is that good. Especially under the work experience section. And I don't know what or if there's availability for dishwasher jobs in Ireland. He is printing 100 CVs today and is going to apply for jobs in hotels and restaurants around the city centre. I am wondering though, if that was to fail, would there be another easy type of job he could apply for to get a PPS number?

He goes to language exchanges because he says the General English schools are too expensive. There is a cheap IT skills course nearby but is not comfortable doing it because he feels he won't understand. Also when (or if) he manages to get a PPS number, he doesn't feel comfortable doing the safe pass course in English. He was told that in order to do a safe pass course in Spanish, he has to find 9 other Spanish speaking individuals to do it with him.

Any advice or recommendations are welcome. I will pass any useful information into him.
