Wife's mx5 key wont unlock or start car. Only a 142 car. Changed fob battery. Thought might be damp so put in jar of rice in hot press. No joy.
We're in Sligo. Anyone know reliable company to fix?
Don't mind posting it or travelling bit...in Dublin regularly enough. (A Google search gives a long list but would prefer a recommendation...couldn't find current, relevant thread)
Will replace if absolutely necessary, but spare is replacement key dealer sent us and local dealers couldn't programme for some reason...had to go to Dublin!

    Thanks in advance

What happens when you try to start it?

Given the weather is there any chance the actual battery of the car is dead?

Other key, and the car, work perfectly. Pretty sure problem is with that key.

Happened to me before on a mondeo , had to go through what I thought to be a silly procedure but it worked so I’m sure that the similar process for programming the mx5 key should work. I’m not allowed to post links because I’m a new user but if you do the google search you’ll find the instructions ( which may be in your user manual), there’s some instructions on YouTube as well , but one example is from keyfobprogram .com/2013-mazda-Mx-5-miata-remote-/programming/
If you do try the programming, do it with the window open so you don’t accidentally get locked out

Try MG Motors in Colooney.,they that sort of thing,. Had a friend who had electronic prob with his car. He been else where and getting no solutions. MG Motors nailed the problem straight away. They're good on the electrical side of things.
