Advice needed on first solo holiday

Looking for advice from someone with experience. Considering going on my first solo holiday this summer. I looked into cruises and group trips for solo travelers. Late 40’s and not overly confident in crowds either. Not looking for 18-30’s type holiday, just a week in the sun with other people in similar situation to chill. The group trips seem to involve fairly small amounts of people, would the cruise’s be a safer option of meeting up with like minded people as bigger numbers of travelers involved and probably loads of different nationalty’s. If you didn’t click within the small group of people in the group holiday, it would probably end up a long week.

Have a look at the forums on cruisecritic. They have what they call roll calls, where you can find other people who will be on your cruise and chat online with them in advance.

Lots of activities on cruises, where you can join in or not as it suits you. You can also meet people at dinner each night, if you use the main dining room.
