    hi guys,

I have an old house in dublin that we are slowly doing up and now we're onto the kitchen.

our kitchen currently has a functional but redundant fireplace taking up space which we have had the idea of turning into an indoor BBQ give its already got it's own chimney.

    Similar to this

Has anyone any experience of this here in dublin or come across it?

    or are we nuts?

There will be some big costs on building it and maybe some unforseen costs. But it does look good.

Alot of work there, Would require new lintel. removal of bricks / debris. Shortening the Flue. New bricks, bottom lintels for base of oven.Flue Draft fixings Then fire proofing and plaster.

not a cheap excercise if you arent doing it yourself.

Also theres ventilation aspect that needs to be accounted for in the room itself

    Thanks to both,

We intend to douch for the grunt work ourselves with someone coming in to do the more finicky bits and ensuring the ventilation is right.

Our biggest issue now is who to get to help us.

I've a couple of builders but I suspect it may be a job for one of the stove fitters

    IMO yes.
Apart from the big costs of doing the work, you also need to factor in some form of mech extraction for the flue as you really don't need the smell of roast wildebeest or zebra permeating the house.

In addition, when selling, most folk might say wtf bro?

“I can’t pay my staff or mortgage with instagram likes”.
