    I would imagine it depends on your employer, my current job allows it, others may not.

    Yes you should be able to, but I'm not sure they have to let you either. Its normally that they can't require you to take a days holiday if you are sick, or if you are sick on holiday you can request it back with a doctors note. I have used holiday days for hospital appointments before because I didn't want to loose a day pay.

    No legal requirement.

    You're not even entitled to be paid for sick days.

    The exception to all this is if you're sick during a public holiday or a normal holiday. Then the missed holiday is refunded to your holiday allowance.     Most companies will allow you to take holiday pay instead of lose out but of course this comes off the balance for the year
