Forced Abortion?

I saw this headline in the Irish Examiner the other day: Women forced to go to UK for abortion to take cases to the UN https://www.irishexaminer.com/breakingnews/ireland/women-forced-to-go-to-uk-for-abortion-to-take-cases-to-the-un-613100.html

As soon as I read the headline, this image was conjured in my mind of Irish women being dragged by the hair kicking and screaming onto ferries and planes to have abortions in the UK against their will. It soon became apparent however that the women in question were not dragged there, they paid to go there and they paid for the abortions themselves. So they in fact wanted to go for abortions and nobody dragged them there by the hair.

    Was the Irish Examiner mistaken?

Do you struggle to comprehend most things you’re presented with in day to day life, or is it a temporary affliction whenever you’re about to post something on boards.ie?

When someone determines they need a particular outcome from a situation and they’re left with no alternatives to arrive at that outcome, they are in effect forced to take that path.

Reality Keeper, this stuff isn’t as difficult to understand as you seem the believe.

If you immediately formed a mental image of a woman being dragged kicking and screaming to the UK for an abortion when you read ‘forced’ and indeed, if that’s what you take from that article as a point of discussion, you’re unlikely to be someone who will help positively address the fundamental challenge faced by women in such circumstances.

I think that’s a sad but likely accurate representation of the quality of thought you bring to such matters. This stuff is more brain-shart than brain-fart, isn’t it?

Mod: realitykeeper, next time you start a thread, take out a dictionary and make sure you understand each and every word that is in the subject and make sure it relates to the body of your post.
