Car Dismantling Business

    Hi guys,

I'm a qualified mechanic and I have being thinking for a while of getting in to the dismantling business. I guess like anybody starting out I have a lot of questions running through my head! My plan would be to start out small while still keeping my current job. I was thinking of sticking more to vans and jeeps as there seems to be enough dismantling cars.

What I'm wondering is where does most the guys in this business source there cars/vans/jeeps from? Is this a business that might be worthwhile getting in to? I do be looking on the likes of Donedeal in the breaking repairable section to source a few but sometimes it doesn't seem to add up when you compare the price of the vehicles that are up for sale and the return that you might get on breaking them.

Any advice is very much appreciated.

Waste Permits, then a Waste Facility Permit & planning to boot.
Doable, anything is possible, but costly before a dime is turned.

There is definitely money to be made in it, go to kilcock any day of the week and its always busy, lovely tarmac drive in and lovely big warehouses. But they are probably one of the biggest in ireland.

The major breakers buy their cars from insurance tender auctions. Not easy to get on these databases though.

    Do you know any dismantlers?
I find the easiest way to get into a business is to be connected to it already somehow and therefore get info from the horse's mouth.
