Because it's stuffed full of left wing liberals who don't value truth.

As above ...here s the true story

Very different from what Rte published on the news. Why? Are they just incompetent?

You'd think after all the times Trump called them out, that theyd cop on and lift the moral bar higher.

    there's a trump thread.

Aside from taste in hats, I can't see his relevance here.

To be fair, RTE wasn't so much culpable as whoever stitched the original footage which RTE and everyone else ran with without checking further.

More widely RTE is hardly going to spend time and money fact checking a foreign news report. They get this stuff fired into their a/v drop box from news associations like Reuters and PA. RTE understandably trusted organisations which are trusted.

Does anyone have a youtube clip with an actual mainstream news report on this story - all I can find are the rebuttals!

Edit found one. NBC Nightly News (which is appalling btw)

Looks like the Indian fella took everyone for a ride.

One quick browse shows the deliberate distortion of the facts. Surely they can afford 2 minutes before a broadcast.

At the very least, this should make them question their 'trusted' sources.

Not seen the piece done by RTE but would imagine (if they are smart) the piece is just a covering the video, not the content of the video e.g. they say "a video showing a youth in a MAGA hat staring at a Native protestor who was in DC for a rally of some type has gone viral" which is not factually wrong, its what the video contains. They can say "its gone viral and people are reacting negatively to it on Facebook/Twitter etc" they are not wrong, it is what is happening.

If they start claiming he walked up and started getting into the Native guys face and threatening him or such then it would be slander or such (which I'm going to assume what the CNN piece with their "Heartbreaking Viral Video" tagline was stuffed with).

Tim Pool, centre leftist youtube journalist, has a balanced take on this and the overreaction of the established media. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPiK_Tdh9Vg
In summary, the initial story being spun of the MAGA supporter being abusive to the Native American played into the existing media narrative, hence little / no investigation of the full story or interviewing of the teens was done.

What I noticed most about the RTE report was that even though they mentioned that a third group were involved they did not mention anything more about them

The actions and make-up of the he third group is very important to the context of the story.

The third group were Africa Americans hurling abuse at white high school kids.

The media here get all their content for US news from other mainstream US news sources, the US media peddled it and RTE believed the peddled lies. It fits the only test they need “is it somehow trump related and negative about him” if so then its in their eyes likely true and requires no due diligence so they’ll run it.

It’s always annoying how much the US is covered. Must be nothing going on in Yemen.

Why are you getting so worked up about a news report about another country being in hindsight incorrect?

    Mod Note

I really don't want to lock this thread because it's obvious that people want to discuss this issue. However, the charter states:
When posting or linking to a video please provide a summary of the content as not everybody has access to video sites or the time to view them.

It's impossible to tell from the OP what is going on. If the OP (or anyone else for that matter) can PM the mods with a summary of what the issue is we'll update the OP and reopen the thread.

    Thanks
