Car heater not working

hi, I have had this problem a few months now, I had put it on the long finger.

The problem is that the car's heater has stopped working (2012 Renault Megane)

The temp gauge on the dial sits at the first square all the time. The gauge on the dial is made up of a series of digital blocks, same as the fuel gauge, so its not letting me know if the engine is running at normal operating temperature or if its overheating. The coolant level is fine, so I just keep checking that every now and again.

Its just that the heater has also stopped working, so it appears to be a related issue. I wonder has anyone experienced such a problem and manage to sort it out?

    thanks in advance

If the temp gauge doesn't go up to operating temp within a reasonable time then it could be the thermostat stuck open.
This could also have the effect there doesn't appear to be any heat inside the cabin.
