    Hi folks,

Can anyone recommend online or brick mortar anywhere to get a new door actuator for my car?

Loads online on ebay but I'm not sure of quality, would prefer to buy off a company. Couple of places in Dublin I've rang but none do any door locks.

    Cheers

No they don't do car locks and he couldn't recommend anywhere.

Anyone buy parts online that they'd recommend?

Thats a no brainer to me OP, let's say the one you buy is crap and you're back looking again instantly or in a few months ? 155 for a genuine part or save 30 odd and take a risk ?

What's the fault? The actuators on older VWs (eg Golf Mk4) could be repaired by cleaning the internals and circuit board. The tracks on the board get corroded from condensation and dust and short out but if that's cleaned off it might work again.

No idea how similar the newer ones on VAG cars are.

I had mine go on an A5 before, I just bit the bullet and went to Audi for the part. Sometimes when you go to Audi you get an extra bit of information/advice that makes it worth it. For example my fuel filler cap actuator failed on my A6 a few months back, I went to Audi again and he told me 9/10 times the facia will get damaged during removal to get at the actuator, so I should buy that too, and sure enough it was next to impossible not to destroy the facia, so it saved me a second trip.
I hate using main dealers for anything, but for these types of parts it's good to be sure you have the right part, and also to have the option of just nipping in and swapping it or getting a refund of you find something else is the problem.
