Tyres for a 98 Starlet

It's getting awkward to get tyres for my trusty old 98 Starlet. No one seems to hold stock of them as apparently they only fit a small number of cars.

One tyre supplier suggested I move from the 145-70-13 original tyres to the less rare 165-70-13 tyres. (these numbers mean nothing to me BTW)

A second guy (who had the 165s in stock) reckoned they'd be too big for the rims and would rub.

Is there an option to switch tyre size or do late 90s Starlet owners just resign themselves to having to get their replacement tyres ordered in as needed ?

Any supplier worth his salt can get your tyres. He might not hold them in stock, but he could get them in for you.

Where abouts are you based? It's not a size that we'd stock but like most places we could have them same day so ring around some local tyre places.
