Toyota Avensis in the UK - RAC check

    Hello,

I am currently holding a deposit on a 2013 Toyota Avensis with a dealer in the UK. Before purchasing I got the RAC to do a check on it (attached) and received some of the issues in the engineers summary below. I'm looking for advice on it basically, do I walk away now based on this? Or do I bargain for fixes for the below problems...?

The main items noted by the engineer are:

The air conditioning system operation was tested; however a lower temperature reading of
20.6oC shows the system to be inoperative / operating inefficiently. It is advised that the system should be checked by a specialist, repaired if required and re-gassed prior to purchase.

On road test under load there was a noticeable squeal from the engine area, similar to that
often associated with 'fan belt' squeal. This will require further investigation.

It is brought to your attention that the right rear tyre is worn to 3mm and has limited life.

On arrival it was noted that the displayed date and time were incorrect, which may indicate that
    the battery has been discharged.

Two faults could be related, aircon compressor is driven off fan belt, it’s not unknown for the compressor on Avensis to fail. I’d walk unless it’s a particularly tasty deal. There’s plenty of them out there.

    Thanks for the insight!

If I was to negotiate on this, is it possible for the garage to fit a new fan belt? Would that be a costly job for them?

Is it a unique avensis as there are literally thousands for sale here.

Fitting a fan belt is very cheap. Fitting a new aircon compressor is massively expensive. Could be either, neither, or both.

    Walk.

Does the repair damage on the front bumper, rear bumper & boot not concern you?
