House Insurance: Reliable Comparison Sites

    I am looking for a house insurance (75 sqm, 3 bedroom, value ~150k, btw not sure what that means for its rebuilt value...) and look for a house and content insurance.

    I am looking for a comparison site that is reliable and does not sell my information (phone number, email, personal data) around. A few years back in UK I had quite a bit of that after a credit comparison over such a site...

    I came across a few comparison sites by googling away:

    * https://www.quotedevil.ie/
    * https://www.chill.ie/
    * https://www.compareinsuranceireland.ie/
    * https://www.quoteme.ie/

    but are they worth getting involved with or is it better to just approach insurances individually?

    Hopefully, I can read some of your experiences using those above and others. I hope asking so direct does not violate some forum rule... ( ? )

    Thanks, A.

    We got a great quote from fbd this year, the online calculators tend not to be accurate, we found we had to go through the details on the phone to get an accurate quote

    Quite simply, get a quote from them all. A broker could be a good option too. We went with a broker and they got us house insurance with Zurich for a few hundred less than anywhere else we got quotes from, even Zurich.

    Rebuild value would be on your engineers report from when you bought the house. It's the cost of rebuilding your house if for example it burnt down. Should be much less than the value of your house.

    I believe some if not all the ones you listed are brokers tied to particular insurance companies rather than proper price comparison sites so wont give a full picture of what's available in the market + will have their own commission on top.

    Usually when I price around the new customer offer with ebs (broker for allianze) or blue insurance comes in cheapest for my particular house on a like for like quote. Sometimes fbd also give me a good price but never lower than the previous two.

    I always price around every company I can find as well as go though the brokers you listed each year just like for car insurance. Giving them a call once you know the price range then to haggle further + play one off another for price matching.

    Did any of you received a lot of sales calls once you used of those brokers?

    use a fake number and email address until you settle on the cheapest one to go with.
