I've been rudely awakened yet again at 6:50am by a call on my landline that looked it was from an Athlone (090) number. The previous calls have been from other valid looking landline numbers in other areas.

I answered thinking maybe someone has an emergency and it was an Indian accent asking if he could speak to the internet owner.
I just bolloxed him out of it and he just hung up.

I'd a further 3 similar calls during the day time.

I'm going to have to unplug the phone as this is absolutely crazy in the early hours.

    What's a landline Granddad?

I'm just wondering is this happening to anyone else?
It's not even a number that I would be likely to have filled in anywhere, so I would be surprised if it's data theft. I'd say they're just dialling random valid numbers

Happening here in the 0504 area too the past few days. I just talk in jibberish made up language and they hang up. How do I know it’s them? Recent FTTH install and nobody has my landline number.

    Referee's whistle beside phone.

    They won't do it again.

They get very angry when you ask them is their mother proud of what they do.

Well, if you can put on an English accent, you should have said:
    Yes, Sir Tim Berners-Lee speaking.

Or if you can put on an American accent, you could have said:
    Yes, Al Gore speaking.
