Hi Folks. I am employed in a large firm. Initially, I was employed for two days. Permanent part time member of staff. 3 years ago, the firm employed a Contractor and I was asked if I would like extra hours. I was then employed 3 days, the third day to work for the Contractor only.

The Contractor is leaving the firm shortly. He will not be replaced. I haven't brought it up with HR yet. I'm not sure what my position will be. My two days are safe. Will the Firm give me an extra day within another department?? Will they just let "lose" the one day? Thanks folks

Depends how you were being paid for the third day I suppose. Were you employed by the contractor for the third day or the firm themselves, Do you have a contract etc. if you worked for 3 years with the same hours they may not be able to change them.

You could also ask them. as you may not be able to do your job, and someone else by the looks of it in just 2 days work.

Hi loonatic. I was initially working Monday and Tuesday. Contractor was employed on Friday. He paid me half day, firm paid the other half. If you know what I mean? The friday, I would also dig out with my team too.:)
