    Hi all,

I have a Audi A6 2013. It needs a full service and timing belt replacement.

So left car in a garage near work today.

Anyway, the full service includes replacement of fuel and air filter and this comes to approx €300.

    Timing belt is €450.

I was also advised that one of the brake pad needs to be replaced. (€150)
And the alternator tensioner needs replacement. (€40)

    All come to €940.

    Does this seem reasonable?

    Thanks

Is it from a main dealer or other? Pricing is near main dealer pricing, if it was me at those prices I'd go with main dealer as difference is so small. Main dealer is €499 for timing belt and €185 for brake pads.

Current Dublin Audi main dealer prices are:

    €359 for a full/major service , + €499 for the t/b + €185 for the pads + €40 for the tensioner

More than your €940 bill, but not by much.

The real question is, is the dealer competitive or is the Indy off the wall.

Main dealer warranty on TB is 5 yrs iirc: an Indy will be 1 or 2 years.

I had TB and WP fail after 2 years by an Indy : if I'd gone dealer it would have been done under warranty : in my case a dealer job would have worked out cheaper.

Audi parts warranty is 2 years. Also, if genuine Audi parts are used then the same warranty applies regardless of whether a main dealer or independent fitted the parts.

    2013 A6 here also
The garage we use is €140 for the service. €144 for brake pads
And timing belt is due soon and it was €385
Not an Audi dealer but a large enough local dealer

I'd say the main dealer will try and talk you out of the Timing Belt Kit as its too much risk for him for that money, else he will try and increase the work order to cut his losses.

OP you need to make sure you are comparing like with like when you are looking at different prices. Best thing would be to get detailed quotes that list exactly what is being changed. Then you can compare accurately.

For example; I know Audi’s €499 fixed price timing belt job doesn’t include the water pump or the alternator belt. The independent €450 quote will certainly include the pump and probably the alternator belt as well. So on the face of it the price difference is small but if you add the pump and extra belt to Audi’s €499 quote then all of a sudden there’s a big difference.

The Audi €499 price does include a water pump. I think it's a common misconception that it doesn't.

The small print used to say it may include a surcharge if a non genuine pump is fitted to the car currently, but I think even that's gone now as the pumps are no longer exchange and that'd never be an issue for a car getting it's first belt anyway.

Interesting thing there. In the link they say timing belt replacement is 120000 kms or 5 years. I thought 200k kms and no time limit.
I remember checking the prices 2 years back on my a4.
499 but you got 5% off for booking it online and paying for it there. So about 475.
Got it done in a vw dealer former audi dealer for 450 i believe.
They had an offer before christmas for 400

Audi Galway quoted me 5 yr warranty if they fitted OEM parts.

Is that a full service including replacement of oil filter, air filter, fuel filter? If so, that is a brilliant price.

Price for the brake pads is similar and timing belt is approx €50 cheaper.

Are all these price after vat?

If so, I'd like to know where this garage is. Please PM me.

Seems strange if you think about it. After all a whole new Audi only has a 2 year warranty. That 5 year thing must be something Audi Galway are doing themselves.

I have the same car as you and got front pads replaced by local VW / Audi specialist €65 & labour for oem parts. I'm not sure of breakdown of labour for pads but full service excl fuel filter but replace thermostat, coolant, oil and air & oil filters €375 incl vat
