I started up a social media advertising business. I have a contract with the county council to run a facebook page. They also want advertising on facebook and it just hit me how that looks to tax.
I get €120 a month for what I do and then €40 on top for the advertising. So my invoice is €160.
For facebook I pay the tax of 23% so if I put an advert up and it costs €7.70 I then pay €10 for it.

With income tax be charged on that? If not then how do I charge for it? This is my first time doing a business and I have nowhere to ask questions. Please can someone help me or point me in the right direction?

Not sure if I read you correctly, why not bill them for the advertising or is the 40 a fixed amount to pay for ads

Sorry MissDaisyChain it's difficult to follow your post, are you asking how you should charge the county council for the €10 including VAT? Or how your income is taxed?

We need some more information, are you registered for VAT and do you charge it on your invoices? Are you a limited company or sole trader?
