    Hi there,

After 8 months of hell and many fuel injectors later my vw 2010 TD Polo lost all power again on the motorway.

I had the car diagnosed with MSL Motors this morning (VW specialists) and they have just rang to say I need a new EGR and Fuel Injector No. 4 at a cost of €2k.

Any ideas as to whether this price seems high, low or average?

Would there be any options for me to sell the car as is (currently in limp mode) as I just want rid now. :(

Has your car had the emissions update? If so then VW should cover those items under goodwill although I'm sure you've already been through this with MSL?

Neither of those are particularly specialised repairs so you could probably get the work done at an independent workshop for a little less, but an EGR valve and injector for that engine will retail at €800~ or so but you have room to save on the labour by going independent.

You could sell it as it but it's be a nightmare and you'd take a fair hit value wise. Ask about goodwill on those items if the update has been done and if Not, get an independent quote. The Labour time to replace those EGR's is approx 4.5 hours and another hour should do the injector, so make sure labour quotes are in around the 6 hour make and not much more.

Thanks for the reply. I was told over the phone that that emissions update hasnt been done but that they can't do it until the engine problems are fixed. They also said there is no goodwill....

Collecting the car and diagnostics report this evening and will ring around for some quotes. He did mention circa 5.5 hours of labour. How much is labour an hour on average?
