    Hi All,

After a useless tax decrease so small it was not worth doing we now see the prices of many daily activities for workers increasing cost due to a tax hike.

Coffee has gone up in restaurants, coffee shots, bars etc.
Sandwiches have all gone up (Subway for example, 6.80 to 7.20) Local sandwich place, 6 euro to 6.30

These might seem like small increases but if you are a worker and likes to eat in this way, you will have a decline is spending when even just purely looking at tax reduction vs tax increases. This is not considering the housing debacles and other high costs of living on this little island.

What do you think, have you noticed food and similar services increasing in cost in January?

The special "Tourist" rate of VAT increased from 9 back to 13.5%.

Many businesses have taken this as an opportunity to increase prices way above the 4.5% warranted.

I noticed it yesterday when i brught my kids to a softplay centre

Not going to tell anyone what to. If you want to or have to buy your lunch out every day, it is going to cost a good bit more than bringing a packed lunch and drink. Personally, I couldn't afford to lunch out every day at current prices.

I have stopped buying coffee every day after doing it for 12 years. I am also starting to make lunch instead.

I stopped smoking 7 months ago so making good savings there. I have started spending my money in other countries by going on holidays with all the savings. Last year went on 5 holidays with the savings!

Next is to force my employer to allow me to work from home permanently instead of a few days here and there and GTFO out of Dublin.
