Just eating one there and I'm thinking it's possibly the most underrated food. Soft fluffy potato, knob of butter, bit of salt and pepper.

    Magic

It’s the vanilla ice cream of the veg world, it only tastes good if you have something tasty to eat with it!!

    Chips on the other hand...

I'm not a big chip fan, roast potatoes on the other hand.

Potato Gratin covered in garlic and creamy cheese for the win.

Beans. Or a poutine potato with slow cooked beef, gravy and cheese curds. Amazing.

    As Mitch Hedberg said:

It takes forever to cook a baked potato. Sometimes, I'll put one in the oven even if I don't want one, cuz by the time it's done, who knows?

Only if its crispy skin and snowey inside. Most are terrible.

Dry the potato absolutely before oiling and rubbing plenty of salt into the skin before cooking.

    When done, bash not cut.

McCains do decent microwavable ones, bang them in a hot oven to finish.

Butter, salt, pepper and baked beans. Yum.

I find roosters to be about the best all round potato and doesn't seem to suffer by the seasons.
Good for chips, mash, roasties, baked.

I hate roosters! Maris Piper should be good. Organic if possible.

Potato and real butter is one of those amazingly perfect combinations.

If I want to naughty it up then baked beans, cut up sausage and cheese.

Organic potatoes are much nicer, more earthy tasting. Depends on which ones you buy I guess.

Large Maris Piper, bake it. Leave cool for an hour, cut in half and scoop out the middle. Mash up the middle with some greek yoghurt, grated cheese, ham/bacon and finely diced scallion. Refill, lash a bit more cheese on top and bake for 25 minutes. Thank me later.

Maris Piper for baking. If you want a real treat, have a go at hasselback baked spuds. Fooking savage if you take the time to get them right.

Which spuds are best for these. Some one told me a more wavier spud would be better (not roosters)

Definitely eat the skin - fried potatoes with the skin on them are delicious
