Calving camera question

That time of year again for checking out our calving cameras before the maternity season starts. We have a system with multiplexer, 4 cameras, wireless transmitters (to 2 houses) which is sufficient for our needs.

Checking it today, the multiplexer (box for taking feed from all cameras and sending out on a scrolling single feed to transmitter) is banjaxed again - seems to happen about every 2 years. I've not in love with purchasing the same box again due to price (105euro delivered) and repeated failures.

Do any of you use CCTV DVR box for this purpose? I've been looking at this one (https://www.freetv.ie/4-camera-dvr/) which is coming in at half the cost of replacing the multiplexer we have. Can they be generally set to scroll through 4 cameras and output to a monitor or transmitter. It would be important that this would continue after a power reset. The network connection would give some flexibility for remote viewing in the future also.

There is something wrong with your link.

DVR's will normally show all cameras in a grid at boot up. But setup a network connection and you'll be able to select any camera from your phone or a PC from anywhere.

Behavior of DVR's may vary between different makes or models. Also a lot of the newer ones will only have HDMI and/or VGA connections for monitors which may not work with your current transmitter. ( But you could potentially reuse your antennas for WiFi signal if 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz)

    I don't need one as I won't be recording.

I've 2 8ch DVR's in our yard, One has HDD for the security cameras and the other has no HDD for the calving cameras.
