    Hi guys
Looking for small bit of advice. We currently have a range we no longer use and want to remove it. The space it occupies in the kitchen would be almost perfect for a double fridge but height is slightly too small. Need about another 2.5" in height. What way would be best to aciheve this ? Would a hammer drill with proper bit achieve this or cold chiesel or would you need bigger tools ? I have attached a picture just so you can see what im talking about
    Thanks

There’s probably a lintel holding it up. You can’t just chisel it out. It would need to be temporarily supported by pins and acros above and a new higher level lintel installed in its place. Definitely not a DIY job.

Thanks for the reply. I thought it might be ok just for small bit we need but I guess we will leave it well enough alone.
    Thanks

Yeah that has a chimney above it. The box on the wall may be the chimney ash access. That would be a large Job to modify.

    Thanks lads.
Our plan is to probably get the wall taken out eventually but thought it might be a nice solution for a while. Looks like the 30 year old range stays!!
